Who We Are

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration is responsible for managing the Republic of Kiribati’s international relations and delivering immigration and consular services.

The Ministry represents the Government and people of Kiribati internationally. We work with bilateral, regional and multilateral partners to advance Kiribati’s national interests, strengthen cooperation and promote sustainable development.

Through our headquarters and overseas missions, we also support I-Kiribati citizens abroad and provide services to people travelling to, residing in or departing from Kiribati.

Our purpose

Our Mandate

The Ministry leads and coordinates Kiribati’s foreign relations, diplomatic representation, international engagement and immigration administration.

It provides policy advice to the Government, maintains relationships with foreign governments and international organisations, supports official representation overseas and facilitates the lawful movement of people across Kiribati’s borders.
